Touch typing (that is, typing without looking at the keyboard) is an important skill that you will need in high school, college, and beyond. Unfortunately, some students manage to graduate from middle school without ever learning how to type properly.

To give students some extra incentive to learn how to type properly, in all my classes I give typing tests and include the scores as part of the student's grade. So—if you don't already know how to type—now is the time to learn. By the end of the year you should be able to type at least 30 words per minute.

There are many free, online typing courses available. I recommend typingtest.com. In class, we will use typingtest.com to take our tests. (You can take a sample test from the websites homepage).
