Subject and Predicate

A simple sentence has two parts, the subject and the predicate.

As you have already learned, the subject always comes first.

The predicate includes the verb and "everything else".

Subject Predicate
The dog chased the rabbit.
The singer is very talented.
My friend won the race.
Betty likes classical music.
The horse drank water.
